DDO PRODUCTIONS LLC

DDO PRODUCTIONS LLC is a media production company currently based in the Los Angeles, CA area rendering media services  to include photography, videography, writing, social media management and other visual media-related needs. The company was started by the owner Destiny Owens while she was a freshman at North Carolina Central University in 2012, working hard as a passionate Creative and aspiring Historian. She found herself constantly capturing photos and films, writing news stories, historical research papers, poems, and more for herself, school, and friends and family at various events as a personal love and hobby. Something that began as natural passions began to grow a client base as she continued perfecting her crafts and people began to pay her for something she never viewed as a job. She turned her passions into an official business in 2018. Though the company is based in California, the owner also travels to render services to her clients. The goal of the company is to provide media services at an affordable rate and spread joy through the creation and sharing of art and storytelling.
Destiny D. Owens grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina with five siblings, her mom and stepfather. She always had a love for storytelling and began her journey behind the camera as early as elementary school. While in the 3rd grade, she found herself in her school’s library led by the librarian, Ms. Joyner, recording the morning show, that aired in each classroom every morning. Though she was nervous in the position, Joyner reassured her that she was a natural. During that time, she had no idea that those moments were shaping and defining part of her life’s journey and purpose. Storytelling in her family traces back generations with her great grandma Georgia taking her grandma Lois to the movies during segregated eras and her grandma Lois then doing the same with her mom Tõna when she was a child, and her mom then doing the same with Destiny and her siblings. Her great grandmother was also an extremely strong Oral Historian in her own right which helped to further impact Destiny’s love for storytelling. Generations of Black women storytellers and historians birthed Destiny who is a creative focusing her talents on independent documentary filmmaking, writing, and visual media. Additionally, she teaches the next generations of creatives as an Adjunct Film, Media, and TV History and Culture Professor. Stories most important to her to capture include Social Justice Activism, Black History and Culture, and stories that center Black people and People of Color living, existing, and thriving in the ways they enjoy most.

Motto: #MediaForThePeopleByThePeople

“My goal is and has always been to document the lives of those around me as well as my own through the art of visual storytelling. I strongly believe that storytelling has the power to change the minds and hearts of all. I know people often feel that in this industry nothing is promised but I disagree because there will always be people who want and need their stories told, moments of their lives captured, and who love going to movie theaters on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the latest and greatest films. And all those things ring full of promise!”
